Description

The “Introduction to Translation” course is aimed at students, language enthusiasts, aspiring translators and professionals who want to expand their skills in the field of written and audiovisual translation.

During the training course, the main techniques and strategies for the translation of literary texts, sectoral documents (technical-scientific, legal, economic fields) and audiovisual content, such as extracts from films and TV series, will be addressed, while developing a cultural and stylistic sensitivity that is fundamental for operating effectively in the sector.

Requirements

This course is financed through the active employment policies program Guarantee of Employability of Workers (GOL).

To access this free course you must:

Be between 16 and 64 years old.
Don’t have a job.
Have residence or domicile in Lombardy.
Not having previously activated a path of active employment policies (GOL or DUL dowry).
It is preferable to have a basic knowledge of the Italian language.
Basic computer skills.

Plan

Foundations and theories of translation.
Textual analysis and comparison between source texts and translated text.
Literary translation from and into English.
Professional translation from and into English (manuals, CVs, technical texts).
Audiovisual translation from and into English: subtitling, dubbing, voice-over.
Use of digital tools for translation (CAT tools, online dictionaries).
Practical workshops.

Career opportunities

Freelance translator in the literary, technical or audiovisual fields / editorial collaborator or specialized editor / project manager / proofreader / translation and adaptation assistant for companies or communications agencies.
