The “Cutting and Sewing” course is open even to those with no prior experience in the field, and its goal is to provide participants with the basic theoretical and practical knowledge needed to design and create the custom-made garments included in the program.

Requirements
This course is financed through the active employment policies program Guarantee of Employability of Workers (GOL).
To access this free course you must:
Be between 16 and 64 years old.
Don’t have a job.
Have residence or domicile in Lombardy.
Not having previously activated a path of active employment policies (GOL or DUL dowry).
It is preferable to have a basic knowledge of the Italian language.
Module 1 - Technical Basics and Pencil Skirt
Introduction to the Sewing Machine and Sewing Practice.
Study of textile fibers and fabric properties.
Taking measurements and creating the basic pattern for the skirt.
Cutting the fabric and sewing the test garment.
Fitting test and correction of fit issues.
Production and finishing of the final garment.
Module 2 - Classic Pants
Creating the basic pattern for pants.
Study of the garment’s fit and proportions.
Construction of the pockets and the main technical details.
Cutting the fabric and sewing the prototype.
Prototype and pattern adjustment.
Assembly and finishing of the final pair of pants.
Module 3 - Shirt or Vest
Creating the basic pattern for the bodice.
Examination of the collar, sleeves, back panel, and button placket (shirt) or the neckline and construction of the vest.
Reinforcement Techniques and the Use of Interlining.
Cutting the fabric and assembling the test garment.
Fitting test and adjustments to the fit.
Assembly and finishing of the final garment, including the application of a lining if necessary.
Career opportunities
Self-employment as a tailor or custom tailor.
Collaboration with tailors, fashion studios, and artisan workshops.
Placement in manufacturing companies in the apparel industry.
